The sand pit in the Weera block has been a nuisance to the cityscape since autumn 2021. The mayor made an announcement about the matter in the autumn, where he said that the area of the pit will be cleaned up temporarily. Although cleaning up is a reasonable temporary solution, I think it is high time to start construction and put the plot in order.

Understandably, the situation is challenging, because construction costs are high and the need for a shopping center may not be as great as in 2021. However, if the current owner, FinCap, is unable to utilize the plot, I think it would be worth discussing other options. For example, there is a strong demand for student housing in the city now, would FinCap possibly be willing to invest in such a building stock? I think the requirement that the entire plot must be built at once is also strange. I see no reason why several different buildings could not be built on the plot in parts. In the meantime, the rest of the plot could be used as a grass field.
